The SOAR Foundation
In 2006, James Yegon created the SOAR Foundation on the heights of Nakuru north of Nairobi, 2.5 hours by car.
After barely 10 years, the foundation hosts a school of more than 600 students with 7 teachers and a supervisory team of 17 people. High quality education is provided up to pre-university level. James collaborates with numerous foundations and foreign donors (USA, Germany, South Africa). In South Africa, the donor is the Franklin Company, a major company that assembles and distributes pumps worldwide. James also created a farm which feeds all the students at the school and provides extra money to the community during the harvest period, up to 50 euros per day: this is a relatively large sum compared to the basic salaries in Kenya, from 250 to 250 euros/per month equivalent in Kenyan shillings. James' experience should benefit the Sipik 2 project as defined in the “current projects” section.
Please note: the foundation has also just opened a hospital to respond to emergencies and medical treatments in the community.
With our professional guide Rebeccah, humanitarian stays will soon be offered combining concrete on-site help for the foundation's ongoing work with the discovery of the Nakuru region with numerous animal parks to visit on the high plateaus as well as treks. in the Aberdare Natural Park.
