SIPIK 500 project
The SIPIK 2 project follows on from SIPIK 2. It builds on the expertise acquired successively with the Sipik 1 and Sipik 2 projects.
-500 for the USD 500.000 needed to install the same irrigation system as at the pilot farm for 150 farmers members of the Nakithegu CBO in the Nyeri region.
-500 also for the 500 farmers who will ultimately benefit from the experience acquired through the Sipik 2 project in the Nyeri region and beyond, depending on the demand.
About the project

-
As before, the SIPIK 500 Project will be conducted in close collaboration with local experts who greatly contributed to the success of the Sipik 1 and Sipik 2 projects. Some of these experts work at the Ministry of Agriculture. Their expertise covers several areas: sustainable irrigation, environmentally friendly agronomy with best practices, and the use of solar energy.
-
Micro-irrigation with drip irrigation will be systematically installed as part of the SIPIK 500 project. This type of irrigation is expected to become mandatory and essential in Kenya in the future.
-
The SIPIK 500 project will be concentrated primarily in Nyeri County: it will serve as a model for other regions in Kenya and other countries in the African region.
