EWA project

The EWA project will provide a village of 130 people in Eastern Kenya with easy, reliable and sustainable access to water by using the sun as a source of energy accessible on a daily basis throughout the year in Kenya.

About the project

Advantages of Solar Energy

Solar energy offers many benefits, including:

  • Cleanliness and sustainability: Once the initial investment has been made (solar panels, pumping and distribution systems), the use of this energy is almost free. It does not generate any polluting emissions, thus contributing to the protection of the environment.

  • Replacing human effort: Currently, residents have to manually draw water from the bottom of the well, a laborious and time-consuming task. The installation of the solar pumping system will eliminate this constraint,  allowing residents to devote their time and energy to other productive activities.

Project Impact

Satisfaction of water needs: Each inhabitant needs at least 50 liters per day. To this volume are added the needs for animals and for irrigation of the land around the well.

  • Compliance with UN recommendations: The installation will meet the minimum UN recommendation of 50 liters of water per person per day, ensuring sufficient access to drinking water for all residents and their animals.

Long Term Objectives

  • Optimization and development of crops: In addition to providing drinking water, the excess pumping capacity during days of normal sunshine will allow the irrigation of agricultural land. This will facilitate the optimization and development of crops on an area of approximately 1 hectare around the village, thus increasing agricultural productivity to meet the food needs of the communit

Commitment to Sustainable Solutions
